Kristi & Jennifer

Jennifer Burgardt Honored
In the recent dance performance, "Begin To," presented by Saki Suto and The Scratch 4 Bloomin, a special tribute was paid, in dance and words, to SRVDA owner/director, Jennifer Burgardt. Former SRVDA student Kristi Vizza choreographed a piece to "This Woman's Work," with dancers Angelina Guzman, Catherine Kamrath, and Kristi; the work was a moving and emotional piece, performed brilliantly by the trio, created not only to celebrate the birth of Jennifer's daughter, Isabel, but to thank her for touching so many lives during her teaching career. As Kristi said in her introduction, "Jennifer is someone who puts her faith in people, no matter how many odds are against them, and continues to believe in them despite trials and tribulations. She is dedicated to the art of dance and to teaching others how to discover their own place in the art form that she loves."

Special Summer AT SRVDA
This summer at SRVDA brought many unique and memorable events to the Academy. The first Ballet Intensive took place and was a resounding success. The 2 week program included Technique Classes, Variations Classes, Pointe & Character Classes, and more; the Intensive was conducted by SRVDA Ballet faculty and guest teachers as well.
The New Creation Collaboration, facilitated and coordinated by Troy Macklin, former SRVDA student and 2008 graduate of the Juilliard School, brought a new depth and dimension in the arts to all who participated. The 2 week tour consisted of workshops at the Academy (not only in dance, but in acting as well), and Outreach Programs to numerous facilities throughout the Bay Area. The final performance was held at the Academy, where the 5 member Juilliard Team (Esmé Boyce, J. Alex Brinson, Julia Eichten, Breanna O'Mara, & Troy) performed, along with students who had participated in the workshops. SRVDA is honored to have been a part of this unique experience.
A Master Class in Contemporary Dance, taught by another Juilliard student, Jonathon Campbell, rounded out the Academy's special summer programs. His challenging, innovative, and cutting edge class was an inspiration to all who participated.
